사이버한국외국어대학교(총장 장지호)는 지난 3월 22일(토), ‘2025 외국인 유학생 환영회’를 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 외국인 유학생의 한국어 학습과 한국 생활 적응을 지원하고, 소속감과 상호 간의 유대감을 강화하고자 하는 취지에서 마련되었다. 현재 사이버한국외대에는 32개국 출신 272명의 외국인 유학생이 재학 중이며, 다양한 학부에 소속되어 온라인 기반의 글로벌 학습 환경을 경험하고 있다.

이번 행사에는 베트남, 인도네시아, 우즈베키스탄 등 다양한 국적의 외국인 유학생 70여명이 참석했으며, 각 학부의 학부장과 원어민 교수진, 학부 대표, 총학생회 임원진 등이 함께 자리를 빛냈다. 특히 각 학부장들은 영어, 중국어, 일본어 등 7개 언어로 외국인 유학생에게 직접 환영 인사를 전해 각국 유학생들의 큰 호응을 이끌어냈다.
행사는 원종민 글로벌교육원장(중국어학부장)의 사회로 진행되었으며, 재미있는 한국어 퀴즈와 게임을 통해 외국인 유학생들이 한국어 실력을 마음껏 발휘할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다.

이어서 외국인 유학생 대상 학습지도 및 진로 지원 방안으로, K뷰티학부와의 연계 프로그램 등 구체적인 학습 로드맵이 소개되었다. 한국어교육 전공자는 본국으로 돌아가 한국어 교육기관을 운영하거나 교사로 활동할 수 있으며, K뷰티학부를 전공한 뒤 국내·외에서 미용 전문가로 창업하거나 취업할 수 있는 실질적인 진로 모델도 안내되었다.
참석자들은 행사 후 본교 Full-HD스튜디오를 견학하며 온라인 콘텐츠 제작 과정을 직접 체험했고, 이후 기념촬영과 기념품 증정이 이어졌다. 유학생들 사이에서는 외국인 유학생회 결성에 대한 논의도 자연스럽게 이루어졌다.
이날 행사에 참여한 베트남·인도네시아학부의 부이티언(배시연) 학생은 “온라인으로 혼자 공부하는 게 외롭다고 느낄 때도 있었지만, 학교가 진심으로 환영해주는 자리에 와보니 큰 힘이 되었다”고 전했다. 인도네시아 출신 너피아 순다리 학생은 “라마단을 고려해 기도실과 별도의 간식꾸러미를 마련해 준 학교의 세심한 배려에 깊은 감동을 받았다”고 말했다.

원종민 글로벌교육원장(중국어학부장)은 “이번 환영회는 코리안드림을 품고 한국을 찾은 외국인 유학생을 우리 대학의 주요 구성원으로 환영하는 뜻깊은 자리였다.”며 “앞으로도 유학생들이 대학생활 속에서 안정감과 소속감을 느낄 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 전했다.
사이버한국외국어대학교는 향후 외국인 유학생의 언어 수준과 교육 수요를 반영한 교과과정 개편과 한국어 콘텐츠 개발을 통해, 외국인 유학생들이 한국어와 한국 문화를 깊이 있게 배우고 한국 사회에 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 다방면의 지원을 이어갈 계획이다.
Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (CUFS, President Jiho Jang) successfully held its 2025 International Student Welcome Event on Saturday, March 22. The event was organized to support international students in adapting to Korean studies and life in Korea, while also promoting a sense of belonging and fostering a stronger community among students.
Currently, CUFS is home to 272 international students from 32 different countries, enrolled in a wide range of academic programs within the university’s global online education environment.
The welcome event was attended by over 70 international students from countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan. CUFS faculty members, including department heads, native-speaking professors, and representatives of the student council, also joined the event. In particular, department heads welcomed students in seven different languages—including English, Chinese, and Japanese—drawing enthusiastic responses from the international attendees.
Led by Professor Jongmin Won, Dean of the Global Education Institute and Head of the Department of Chinese, the event began with Korean language games and quizzes, offering international students a chance to showcase their language skills in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere.
The program also included a presentation introducing academic advising and career support tailored for international students, highlighting practical pathways such as the K-Beauty curriculum. Students majoring in Korean language education were introduced to career options such as establishing Korean institutes or working as instructors in their home countries. Meanwhile, those pursuing K-Beauty-related courses were encouraged to explore opportunities in Korea’s beauty industry or to launch beauty careers in their respective countries.
After the main program, students visited CUFS’s full-HD studio, where they observed and experienced the university’s professional content production system. The event concluded with commemorative photos and gift distribution. Informal discussions also took place among students regarding the potential formation of an international student association.
Bui Thi Tien (Korean name: Bae Si-yeon), a student from the Department of Vietnam and Indonesia, shared, “Studying online can feel lonely at times, but being here today made me feel truly welcomed by the university. It gave me a lot of strength.”
Nurfia Sundari, a student from Indonesia, added, “I was deeply moved by the university’s thoughtful consideration of Ramadan, including the prayer room and individually packaged snack sets.”
Professor Jongmin Won remarked, “This event marked a meaningful first step in welcoming international students who came to Korea in pursuit of their dreams as full members of our university community. CUFS will continue to provide strong support to ensure that international students feel a sense of belonging and stability throughout their academic journey.”
CUFS plans to further develop Korean language curricula tailored to the language proficiency levels and educational needs of international students. By enhancing Korean-language content and support systems, the university aims to help international students gain a deeper understanding of Korean language and culture while establishing themselves as active members of Korean society.
