On August 1, 2024, Dr. Minwoo Lee, a professor in the Department of Korean at Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (CUFS), was appointed as the new Dean of the Global Education Institute. Dr. Lee currently serves as the head of the Department of Korean at CUFS.

Dr. Lee shared his vision, stating, “The Global Education Institute aims to become an online educational institution that leverages CUFS’s 20 years of experience as South Korea’s only foreign language-specialized cyber university. By offering diverse, practical educational programs to foreigners and overseas Koreans, both in Korea and abroad, we aim to enhance global citizenship and improve the practical skills needed in today’s hyperconnected world.” 

The Global Education Institute offers programs in flexible formats, including fully online, fully offline, or hybrid models, depending on the specific program’s characteristics. To create an engaging learning environment, the institute facilitates interactive online learning activities through both real-time and asynchronous tools, thus promoting two-way communication. Additionally, it offers short-term study programs in Korea, providing participants the opportunity to experience Korean language and culture firsthand, therefore maximizing the learning experience.

2024년 8월 1일, 사이버한국외대 글로벌교육원의 원장으로 사이버한국외대 한국어학부의 교수인 이민우박사가 새롭게 임명되었다. 이민우교수는 현재 한국어학부의 학부장이기도 하다.

이민우교수는 ‘글로벌교육원은 사이버한국외대가 지난 20년간 한국 유일 ‘외국어 특성화 사이버대학’으로 쌓아온 풍부한 온라인 언어교육 경험을 바탕으로, 국내외에 거주하는 다양한 배경의 외국인 및 재외동포에게 다양한 실용 교육과정을 제공함으로써 초연결 사회에서 요구하는 세계시민으로서의 역량 강화와 현업의 실무 능력을 높이는 데 기여하는 온라인 교육기관이 되고자 한다.’고 밝혔다.

사이버한국외대 글로벌교육원이 제공하는 교육 프로그램은 프로그램의 특성에 따라 온라인과 오프라인 별도로, 또는 온라인과 오프라인의 혼합 등 유연한 방식으로 운영한다. 또한, 학습자의 몰입을 촉진하는 교수학습 환경을 조성하기 위해 실시간 및 비실시간 온라인 상호작용 도구를 활용한 양방향 온라인 교수학습 활동을 제공한다. 이 밖에도 단기한국방문 연수 등을 통해 직접 한국어와 한국문화를 체험할 수 있는 프로그램을 운영하여 학습 효과를 최고로 이끌어내고 있다.
